Digital Story
October 18, 2009
This post is a link to the digital story we have created for our EPSY556 course in the CTER program. The idea was to create a movie with personal meaning, a variety of media and one that would be about 1-3 minutes. I chose to use Windows Movie Maker because I am pretty comfortable with iMovie and wanted to try something new. I also chose this because my students use PCs and I wanted to experiment with the software before I try it with them in class. I found it quite easy, although I was frustrated with only one audio track, and the lack of ability to adjust volume in different spots like you can with iMovie. To create the audio, I used Audacity to record my voice, and to combine it with the music to make one track in order to input into WMM. Aside from this, it went pretty smoothly.
The project itself was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed looking at old photos. I chose the topic because I knew I had a bunch of pics to look through, and I’d rather be in California now than working and dealing with cold weather. I go out there often, and would like to again this winter to visit my aunt who has become ill, and my grandma who will be turning 90 I believe. The music was chosen because it is a band I currently play with on occasion, so that was an easy choice. I hope you enjoy!
